I grew up in a Christian family (my parents are in full time ministry), so I was surrounded by God and the church from the very beginning. I was raised in a Christian home, but just followed through the motions of doing “Christian things,” like going to church, youth group, camps etc… But I didn’t fully surrender my life to Him.
I went to 3rd grade camp and knew God called me to ministry. Growing up in ministry, I experienced heartache watching my parents suffer through that life. However, I felt God call me to be a person who can help change all that. I found myself at 10 years old getting involved in pornography and struggling to see the wrong in it. The issue of porn however still had its “foot in the door,” and as I got older realized the strong hold it had over me. I would wrestle with God asking him to heal me from it. It carried on for 25 years into my marriage and ministry. It was a secret sin to my wife, friends, family, and leadership.
One day in August 2008, God decided it was time to have me confront this secret life. My wife exposed the issue after finding some things on our computer. Life would ultimately change forever. I was caught. I was internally “happy” that somebody else finally knew. The burden and weight that porn has on your life is to hard to carry. I knew at that point if I did not take action my life would turn for the worst. Katrina (my wife) confronted me, challenged me, and loved me through the healing process. This is where I finally meet Jesus Christ – He saved me and provided a way of escape from the chains of Hell.
And so, my friend, if you’re reading this, it’s because God is speaking to you. You may not be struggling with porn, however, you may have your own addiction that your struggling with and Jesus wants to rescue you like he has with me. He is walking with you and I – Yield your life to Him and He will save you…I promise! Jesus saves, no one else will. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only son (Jesus) that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” – These are powerful words that bring hope in dark places.
So I leave you with this… God loves you, gave His only son to die for you, and provides a way of escape so that you can be saved from a life that is temporary here and go to a place that is eternal elsewhere. Call us at 678-719-9354 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
